Dog Licenses
ANIMAL CONTROL
LICENSES available at City Hall. All dogs six months of age or older must be licensed. To purchase a license, bring current shot records to the Burlington City Hall, 1013 N. 4th Street. The license fees are listed at the end of the page.
Licenses must be purchased prior to February 1st of each year. Failure to license your dog may result in the issuance of a citation for violating the animal licensing ordinance.
ADOPTION: Please contact Animal Control Officer (620-364-8757) if you would like to adopt a dog or cat. Aditional information is included with the fees list at the end of this page.
STRAY ANIMALS: Bonnie Foster is Animal Control Officer for the City of Burlington. She asks that if you see a dog roaming around loose in the City of Burlington, you contact her. She will pick up the dog, try to find it’s owner; and if that is not possible, she will try to find the dog a new home. (Animal Control: 620-490-0416 or Police Dept.:620-364-8757)
ABUSED/NEGLECTED/WILD ANIMALS: Animal Control Officer Bonnie Foster welcomes calls concerning abused or neglected animals. She also handles calls about nuisance animals and will try to trap wild animals such as opossum, skunks, armadillos, and rabbits. Please contact her for concerns and inquiries.

* Animal Adoption Agreement: Anyone adopting an animal from the Burlington Animal Shelter must sign the City’s Animal Adoption Agreement, which strongly urges the adoptee to have the animal spayed or neutered. The $50 Spay or Neuter Deposit will be refunded if proof presented to City Hall within six months of the adoption. [If there is no need to spay/neuter the animal, there is no deposit required.] |
